A For-All Shelter

Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Tampa Bay is a non-profit, animal welfare agency that runs an open-admission For-All animal shelter and public pet hospital (veterinary center) in Pinellas County. If you are looking to adopt dogs and cats we have been serving the community for 83 years. Visitors to our shelter adopt rabbits, guinea pigs, livestock and more. Annually SPCA Tampa Bay cares for almost 8,000 animals that have been surrendered by their owners, along with injured wildlife.

Our Mission

Through passionate collaboration with our community, we transform the lives of animals.

Our adoptions staff and volunteers work to match families with animals that are a good fit with the family’s home, lifestyle and personalities. This is the best place in Tampa Bay to adopt a dog or cat. There is no time limit for an animal’s stay at our pet shelter, and every animal receives compassionate care, regardless of its breed or size.

Our Vision

Create a community where every animal matters.

SPCA Tampa Bay cares for dogs, cats, pocket pets, exotic animals and livestock like goats and pigs. Animals receive immunizations, medical care, enrichment and loving care while they live at our animal shelter in Largo.

😸 We have great mews! 😸Thumbelina, who had her spay surgery at SPCA Tampa Bay Veterinary Center on Monday, is home and recovering well (while looking absolutely adorable!) πŸˆβ€β¬› On Monday, Dr. Rizal Lopez celebrated his 25,000th spay and neuter surgery milestone πŸ₯³ Miss Thumbelina was lucky number 25,000! To put that number into perspective... 25,000 surgeries is more than fans can fill Amalie Arena for a Tampa Bay Lightning game πŸ’While in private practice for 12 years, Dr. Lopez estimates he performed 1,000 surgeries. In his first year with SPCA Tampa Bay, Dr. Lopez operated on more than 3,000 animals 🐾Spaying or neutering your pets prevents accidental litters, meaning there are fewer homeless animals in local shelters. It also provides important health and behavioral benefits for your pets, and our community! Thank you Dr. Lopez for faithfully serving the animals in our community for so many years 🧑#SPCATampaBay #spcavetcenter #spayneuter #veterinarian #stpete #tampabay #loveanimals ... See MoreSee Less
