Farm Assistant

Part-Time Position

Job Purpose:
Provide care for farm animals and maintain animal areas.

Essential Functions:

  • Care for animals by feeding, watering and maintaining clean and sanitary conditions according to assigned daily work schedule.
  • Provide consistent human interaction, grooming, and enrichment.
  • Maintain cleanliness of assigned areas as stated in standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of supplies, through PO system, and coordinate vendors
  • Observe animals for possible problems and report problems when necessary.
  • Assist the public in selection of animals for adoption when necessary.
  • Assist SPC students and liaise with the college, and other public groups, to provide large animal educational experiences
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for the animals and the public at all times.
  • Reports any damaged equipment or need for repair to maintenance.
  • Provide friendly, responsive and personalized customer service.
  • Keep accurate and updated records and enter data as required into appropriate shelter software.

Hospital Manager

Full-Time Position

Job Description: Oversees the operation of all veterinary services which include general and wellness practice, and spay/neuter programs.  Assures adequate staffing and participates in budget preparation and monitors adherence to approved budget.  Assigns duties, supervises and evaluates staff.  Resolves customer experience issues.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Create, evaluate, and improve the structure that delivers the Customer Experience (a Core Value).
  • Propose programmatic and budget goals, and monitor, analyze and control budget items and goal attainment.
  • Collaborate with SDVS with new administrative and medical SOP creation, and ensuring adherence by SPVH staff.
  • Collaborate with SDVS on establishment of, and ongoing review, of price set points.
  • Collaborate with key staff on establishment and management of alternate funding sources for clients (including the “Keeping Families Together” fund), when resource need exists.
  • Manage ordering, accurate recording and maintenance of inventory, including controlled substances, for general practice and spay/neuter programs.
  • Track, evaluate and provide pertinent data for weekly/monthly/annual dashboard data and trend reports. Recommend actions to improve dashboard measurements.
  • Complete critical review of medical records and files.
  • Ensure adherence to OSHA and DEA standards.
  • Recruit, select, supervise, evaluate and train, or ensure training of department staff.
  • Maintain communications with other SPCA Tampa Bay departments as needed to provide a seamless customer experience, especially with post-adoption transitions.
  • Collect and report customer metrics, to assist with public relations and marketing efforts.
  • Serve as member of the operations management team.
  • Ensure staff keep accurate records, and enter data as required in Avimark practice software. Supervise training of new employees on practice software. Be familiar with PetPoint shelter software.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Participate in required meetings and trainings.
  • Professionally represent SPCA Tampa Bay at all times.

Experience:

  • Three to four years working in a veterinary hospital as a supervisor or manager
  • Shelter experience preferred

Lead Client Care Specialist

*St. Petersburg Veterinary Center Location

Full-Time Position

Job Purpose:
Supervise the Client Care Specialist (CCS) Team in the provision of friendly and responsive customer service. Design and implement protocols and practices that directly improve the flow of scheduling of appointments and provision of timely service.  Deal directly with all customer related issues and concerns.  Work with the Hospital Manager in planning and executing regular performance evaluations and any necessary discipline or redirection of CCS staff.  Be the subject matter expert concerning services, practices and the appropriate level of communication with clients.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide friendly, responsive and personalized customer service in a busy environment.
  • Recruit and conduct initial interviews for open staff positions
  • Become AVIMark software “SUPER USER”

Certified Veterinary Technician

*St. Petersburg Veterinary Center Location

Full-Time Position

Job Purpose:
Provide medical care to client pets under the direction of the St Pete Veterinary Center Veterinarians’ instructions and standard business and medical operating procedures.  Serve in one or more assigned nurse roles on designated shift as personal certifications allow.

Essential Functions:
Treatment Nurse

  • Assist Veterinarians with treatment procedures and exams.
  • Complete initial exam work-up, and start the exam process for the veterinarian, including the gathering of pertinent medical and environmental information, based on Veterinary SOP.
  • Perform routine procedures including, micro chipping, vaccinations, wound cleaning, injections and blood sampling.
  • Perform and interpret routine laboratory procedures including skin scrapes, DTMs, ear cytology and microfilaria exams.
  • Complete daily, or as otherwise scheduled:
    1. Perform treatments of hospitalized patients, including post-operative medications, and other necessary medical tasks.
  • CVT Treatment Nurses Only – Under direct supervision and with approval of supervising veterinarian
    1. Induce anesthesia and intubate pets.
    2. Perform cystocentesis.
    3. Perform simple extractions.

Surgery Nurse

  • Coordinate daily surgical cases.
  • Perform routine dental cleanings.
  • Administer sedation and anesthesia medications.
  • Intubate and maintain pets on oxygen and/or gas anesthesia.
  • Monitor pets under anesthesia and adjust levels based on evaluation of pet.
  • Log Controlled Drugs per DEA guidelines.
  • Monitor recovery of anesthetized pets.
  • Place animals in the appropriate recovery areas after surgery is completed.
  • Ensure records are updated thoroughly and accurately, with surgery notes, treatments, and data prior to moving to next stage.

All Nurses

  • Provide friendly, responsive and personalized customer service.
  • Keep accurate and updated records and enter data as required into AVIMark software.
  • Assist other medical team employees as needed.
  • Be able to interact with the public and discuss medical issues with clients.
  • Understand and communicate effectively Clinic policy and practice on service provision, medical standards and routine care.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Participate in required meetings and trainings.
  • Ensure DEA compliance with Controlled Substances (i.e. buprenorphine)

Development and Marketing Coordinator

Single Full-Time Position

Job Purpose: The Development and Marketing Coordinator will provide administrative support to the Development department with the goal of building and strengthening the department’s donor relationships. He/she will also provide social media support to the Marketing Department as directed.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for complete logistical, administrative and follow-up support for department special events and programs. Includes preparing PO’s, assist with tracking income and expenses, RSVP tracking, vendor follow up, preparing attendance lists and name badges, volunteer tracking, and other tasks as assigned.
  •  Coordinate all aspects of SPCA Tampa Bay’s Tributes and Memorial program. This includes ensuring all donor information is correct, recognizing and billing donors correctly, tracking item selection, maintaining website content, and form creation.
  • Develop, monitor, process and maintain records for all fee-based registration forms to promote and secure online payments for public participation in organization’s programs and events.
  • Ensure website event/program information, registration forms and other development information is correct and current.
  • Assist in writing copy for community calendar listings, flyers, surveys, emails, and website to promote department programs and events.
  • Assist with content management on our website
  • Work with the Marketing and Communications Associate and Adoptions Outreach Coordinator to create and implement campaigns on social networks
  • Monitor social media visitor comments, reviews and messages on social networks and other online business accounts such as GoogleMyBusiness
  • Cultivate online outreach and promotion using Facebook, Twitter and more as directed by Marketing and Communications Associate.
  • Assist in analyzing website optimization and social media campaign analysis.
  • Provide friendly, responsive and personalized customer service.

Intake and Investigations Assistant

Single Full-Time Position

Job Purpose: Facilitate the transport and intake processes for shelter animals, strays, owner surrenders, transfers and owner-requested euthanasia.

Essential Functions:

  • Drive ambulance to retrieve sick or injured animals.
  • Transport shelter animals to and from appointments.
  • Maintain radio contact with supervisor and admissions during pick up process.
  • Maintain vehicle and equipment in good mechanical, sanitary and safe conditions.

Nurse

Single Part-Time Position

Job Purpose: Provide medical care to SPCA animals as per Shelter Veterinarian instructions and medical standard operating procedures. 

Essential Functions:

  • Assist Shelter Veterinarian with treatment procedures and exams.
  • Complete initial physical exam, and start an animal on medications or treatments, based on Veterinary SOP.
  • Perform routine procedures including, micro chipping, vaccinations, wound cleaning, injections and blood sampling.
  • Perform and interpret routine laboratory procedures including skin scrapes, DTMs, ear cytology and microfilaria exams.
  •  Perform treatments, vaccinate, deworm and/or give heartworm/flea prevention for all animals in the shelter.
  • Complete any treatments in for Adoptions floor animals, including post-operative medications, and monthly preventives.
  • Check volunteer medical concerns sheets in Feline Friends, the Canine Volunteer office, and Pocket Pet Plaza.
  • Examine all the animals in adoptions and move any animals of concern (medical or behavioral) to the proper kennel, starting treatment recommended by the Medical SOP.
  • Provide friendly, responsive and personalized customer service.
  • Keep accurate and updated records and enter data as required into Pet Point shelter software.
  • Assist other medical team employees as needed.
  • Be able to interact with the public and discuss medical issues with adopters.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Participate in required meetings and trainings.
