When this tiny Chihuahua first came to SPCA Tampa Bay he had fractures in both front legs. After cleaning Chico’s wounds and applying splints to his broken legs, our staff consulted with an orthopedic specialist who confirmed Chico’s legs would not have to be amputated. Even so, we needed to place him with a foster parent with the time and compassion for a dog with special needs.
After months of medications, bandage changes, and physical therapy—along with neuter surgery—Chico was cleared for adoption. We are so happy to say that Chico is now thriving in his forever home!
