Camps, Workshops and Youth Programs
SPCA Tampa Bay is putting our camp and youth offerings on hold through 2019 while we evaluate the relevancy of our programs. The ways that children learn and experience the world is changing and we need time to update our programs to reach youth more effectively.
We still believe it’s important for kids to learn about animals – through pets they learn important life skills like responsibility and compassion. We recommend that parents explore animal-related camps available through Great Explorations [www.GreatEx.org], YMCA of Greater St. Pete [https://www.stpeteymca.org/childcare/summer-camp/], Humane Society of Pinellas [http://www.humanesocietyofpinellas.org/youth-programs] and Largo Recreation’s Parks and Arts Department [PlayLargo.com].
Other ways children can stay involved with SPCA Tampa Bay
- Organize a donation drive
- Sign up for one of New Dawn’s Family Dog Manners Workshop (5yr+ minimum, when available)
- Read to our adoptable cats using the stock of books kept in the green organizer located in Feline Friends
We are working on partnerships with local organizations to continue spreading animal knowledge to children in the Tampa Bay area.
