Adopt a Rabbit or Other Pocket Pet
POCKET PETS OF GOLD ADOPTION EVENT EXTENDED: Due to the recent influx of small animals coming to the shelter, SPCA Tampa Bay is extending its Pocket Pets of Gold adoption event and waiving adoption fees on all pocket pets such as rabbits, rats, and guinea pigs through Sunday, March 31. Reptiles such as turtles and livestock are also included in this adoption event, unless specified otherwise. There are currently over 75 pocket pets and reptiles available for adoption and awaiting a loving home.
Plan your visit and find the perfect pocket pet for you. We have rabbits, rats, mice, hamsters and birds all waiting to be adopted at SPCA Tampa Bay. These homeless pocket pets, critters and livestock have big things to offer with their playful personalities and cuddly fur and feathers.
If you are ready to adopt a rabbit, hamster or guinea pig at SPCA Tampa Bay, check our website right before you arrive to see if they are available.
Please remember: because of our small pets’ adorable appearances, people may have the urge to impulsively adopt a rabbit or hamster during our fee-waived adoption events. Please remember that these small animals (and all pets) come with a lifetime of care. To assist, here’s some basic care tips for a pet rabbit.
*Law Enforcement – Sun Coast Police Benevolent Association Members – the Sun Coast PBA Cops Adopt program can assist members with pet adoption fees! Sun Coast PBA members may apply for the program online at suncoastpba.com/cops-adopt. Once you are approved, please visit the shelter to adopt an eligible animal. Please present your Sun Coast PBA Cops Adopt approval e-mail/letter to shelter staff at the time of adoption and participate in an adoption day photo with your pet.
